I got back my second Ponoko cut of my walks. It came out pretty well. The etching of my most popular tracks came through really nicely; can’t see it in the photo but the burnt area in the middle is also quite deep. Could be deeper actually. And I love the ragged outline of the shape, it’s quite nice.
What didn’t work well is the burning of the wood on the edges of the cut, like around the bottom edge. That’s a common enough problem when lasercutting wood and in some cases it can be quite pretty. But here its uneven and blotchy and distracts from the fine line cuts. I suspect there’s no way to control this through Ponoko and I’d be better served with some other material.
