discoveryd vs mDNSresponder

Good news; Apple is jettisoning the broken terrible discoveryd from MacOS and going back to good ol’ mDNSresponder. Not that I have any love for that stuff either, why can’t MacOS just use the same things the BSD and Linux crowd use? Why reinvent NAT port forwarding requests, etc? Anyway, at least they recognize their mistake in switching to a new broken version of the thing,

Back from January, here’s a good description of what these daemons do. Basically it’s ypbind for a modern age, once again trying to solve the problem of resolving names to addresses in various dynamic environments.
